KESOBA Support for School

A very important part of the Association's activities is to provide support and funds for various projects beneficial to the School.

These currently include:

Mock Interviews where KESOBA provide panels to give all final year 6th formers experience and advice in preparing for university entrance interviews. This is regarded by the School as a very valuable contribution to the success of our next generation of Old Boys.

Final Farewell to School Leavers each summer when the KESOBA President is involved and takes the opportunity to explain the aims and values of the Association and encourages future involvement.

Funding of the Fives Court, refurbishment and decoration. The court is available for use by Old Boys every Wednesday evening along with changing facilities in the School gym.

Funding of and Involvement with School Colours Scheme which has been reintroduced by the Headmaster, Benn Carr.

Work on the original Denis Dyson Observatory which is now located on the roof just beyond his original classroom. It is hoped eventually to offer this as a fully operational facility for Old Boys stargazers.

Monetary Support towards curtaining, mobile staging and other equipment needed to maintain the very high standard of School music and drama.

Annual Cricket and Rugby Team Shields. This major ongoing project has involved historic investigation and the mounting of shields on the balconies either side of the Levi Fox Hall. The Association has so far funded all shields for cricket from season 1893 to 1987 and rugby from season 1895/96 to 1981/82. Further shields up to the year 2000 will be completed during the summer. Agreement has been reached with the Headmaster to continue this work up to date.

The Denis Dyson "Look for the Stars" Wall. Very much related to the Association's ability to fund projects are the annual subscriptions. However, these alone are far from sufficient and we now rely on this additional income stream. For a donation of £150 you can commission an individual inscribed brass plaque mounted in the foyer of the new Denis Dyson Science Building. The inscription, over 2 lines, can be up to a maximum of 30 characters including spaces. It can contain any dedication or simply your name and years at school. Contact David Young on dcmyoung@btopenworld.com.The veneered board will take up to 1000 plaques so please record your support for KESOBA and the School for posterity!

For other general queries and offers to get involved, do contact one of the Association officers as detailed. Your active support would be greatly welcomed.

We urgently need more people to become involved!
